Developed by Uganda-based social enterprise MIKLAH Life, it functions like a social network tailored specifically to celebrating and documenting cultural heritage.
What Problem Does it Solve?
The initiative directly tackles two major global issues:
- Loss of Languages and Cultural Heritage: According to UNESCO, a local language disappears every two weeks, resulting in the rapid erosion of indigenous knowledge, history, and identity. Globalization risks making these cultures forgotten entirely.
- Cultural Intolerance and Social Division: Tribalism, hate, xenophobia, and cultural violence persist worldwide. Statistics highlight that roughly 89% of current conflicts take place in areas suffering from low levels of intercultural dialogue.
How Does the Solution Work?
When users sign up, they choose their local culture. The platform enables them to interact in two distinct stages:
- Local Preservation: Users can discuss, post updates, and share content (music, photos, food, and attires) exclusively in their local languages with their own tribal/cultural communities.
